Just How Fast is Earth Warming? About 50x Faster Than Before, a new study that reconstructs the fine grained climate history since the Ice Age 11,000+ years ago says, reports Tim Radford at the Climate News Network. By 2100, Earth will also be warmer than anytime since then. Fried eggs, anyone?

India: Solar Now as Cheap As Fossil Fueled Power says Deutsche Bank, reports Jeff Spross at Climate Progress, and in parts of Italy as well, where rooftop solar has taken off. DB predicts the global solar industry will be able to swim on its own, unsubsidized, by 2014's end, and projects increased demands. It can't happen soon enough....

How Low Must We Go? Halve Carbon Emissions by 2020 in developed nations to have even a medium chance of limiting warming to a level that will avoid harsh climate change impacts, says a new study, reports Kelly Levin at WRI Insights. This will require dramatic, quick changes in energy and land use policies.... Helloooooh! Any US leaders listening?

☼☼☼Acting Like You Care: The XL Keystone pipeline will make possible far more climate change, but the latest flawed State Department analysis indicates that the President will okay it in April (see last week's column). Credo, 350.org and others are asking people to stand up and be counted as nonviolent resisters or help in other ways. I did. If you ever wanted to do something big for your future, now's your chance -- here.

******** The Climate Change Funnies! *********

Surprise, Surprise! State Department XL Keystone pipeline's analysis, dismissing the pipeline's impact on developing dirty tar sands, was created by companies tied to Big Oil ... who would have guessed?

Climate Change-Primed Weather Prevents Climate Change Deniers' Congressional Hearing - heck, come back in a century, and you can have your meeting underwater, just like they did in the Maldives!

Global Warming Heat Absorbed Mostly by Oceans Not Air, reports Dana Nuccitelli at Skeptical Science. Although air temperature appears stable for the past decade, data indicate that 90% of the extra heat goes into the oceans covering most of the planet. Meanwhile, short-term effects that dampen air absorption can fool many into thinking no warming is occurring at all. Remember, folks, it's that extra oceanic surface heat that fuels storms like Hurricane Sandy, among other myriad effects...

Climate Change-Primed Storms Continue to Grind Away at Northeast US Coasts, reports Andrew Freedman at Climate Central, as various climate change effects create (see the item above, for example) increasingly destructive storms, like the one just experienced in New England and southward.

☼☼☼Acting Like You Care: Climate Change doesn't happen in a vacuum, folks - in the case of bees, which we need for much of our food, bad pesticides are killing them daily as they struggle with a changing climate. Want to help them? Take action here!

Every day is Earth Day, folks, as I was reminded by this wild bumble bee and snapdragons I photographed one summer. Making the U.S. a global clean energy leader will ensure a heck of a lot more jobs, and a clean, safe future. If you'd like to join the increasing numbers of people who want to TELL Congress that they will vote for clean energy candidates you can do so here. It's our way of letting Congress know there's a strong clean energy voting bloc out there. For more detailed summaries of the above and other climate change items, audio podcasts and texts are freely available.
