Spanish label Desigual showed their Spring/Summer 2014 collection today at Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week in New York. While most New York Fashion Week shows are somber affairs with models strolling the runway with blank expressions, Desigual showed a cheeky, flirty spirit on the runway. Smiles were even on the faces of the models. Kisses were exchanged. There hasn't been so much joy at fashion week since Betsey Johnson's final cart wheel last season! For Spring/Summer 2014, Desigual showed a very sixties inspired collection replete with shift dresses, bell bottoms, floppy hats and Janis Joplin type round sunglasses. Take a look at the pictures of the collection below to why this show was so well received by press, bloggers and buyers in attendance.

The joyful mood of the show carried over in the bright prints and warm Spring colors. The show concluded with the models hugging, kissing and generally celebrating the show. Frankly, I've never seen show much fun on the Fashion Week runway. It's no wonder Desigual's slogan this season is La Vida es Chula (Life is Cool. )The biggest surprise to me at this fun, cheeky show is the designer behind this collection. Wait for it....none other than Christian LaCroix. Mr. LaCroix has showed a new versatility here in his designs for this casual collection from Spanish high street label Desigual. I look forward to seeing this collection at Desigual boutiques and retailers. It's infinitely wearable and the Desigual price point is typically an affordable one.
