Nolan is my sweet baby boy in the middle. He is the youngest of my three sons, but the older brother to our little girl. His journey through life has been challenging. He was diagnosed with autism at the age of two. From 30 hours a week of therapy back then to the difficulties of finding the right school environment now, it has not been easy for him. He has been bullied, has tackled a major illness, and has struggled to be understood. He has handled all of these challenges with his gentle spirit, courage, and positive attitude.

When I was asked to have one of my children interview me for the Talk to Me series, it was difficult to pick just one! But ultimately I chose Nolan for this opportunity. He has always had such a natural curiosity and interest in the stories of others. His gaze may wander mid-conversation, but he is always listening with his heart. He has taught all of us how to truly love and to know kindness.

What advice do you give to the child who has taught you? I tried my best.
