Cades Cove, in Great Smokey Mountains National Park, attracts some two million visitors each year. Take a tour of the eleven mile loop and you will quickly see why: Eleven historic sites featuring homesteads, mills and churches serve as backdrop to a wide array of wildlife. White tail dear, black bear, coyote and a variety of other birds and mammals can be seen from the comfort of the car, which, is where most people stay. Despite the large crowds a brief walk down quiet path or into an open meadow is all that is required to find some quiet solitude.
