I was reading the comments to E.J. Dionne's "Taking the Kennedy Way" in the Washington Post yesterday and was actually horrified to read the postings of so many proud idiots. Amid the venomous references to Chappaquidick – tho, my God! volumes could (and should) be written about the service of the Kennedy family compared to the looting done by the Bushes and the destruction of morality, let alone civility, by the party of Family Values – there were nuggets such as: "Socialism and fascism go together like cancer and death."
It is no shame not to know a thing, but the ignorance celebrated by this right wing side show is truly like the unfolding of a monster movie – zombies, indeed, living on a diet of processed talking points and shambling into reasoned discourse drooling fetid lies. Had Thomas Jefferson known that these creatures would one day rally to him, he might have stayed in France. Communism says its purposes is to establish an egalitarian/classless/stateless society based on common ownership through state-controlled everything. Fascism is authoritarian nationalism with a corporate controlled economy. Fascism in its purest form opposes communism strongly (you didn't see Germany and Russia allied in World War II). Nazis and Marxists do not play well together.
