Remember Glenn Beck's mysteeerious video of Obama's Secret Negro Army?™ It's pretty much the foundation of his entire conspiracy theory on the impending takeover of the country by armed Obama thugs, and serves today as the linchpin of the "Obama indoctrination" nontroversy. If you haven't seen it, it's about 1:10 into this clip:
"Stop, stop, stop!" Glenn Beck cries -- as the Secret Negro Army™ declares its intentions to become doctors and lawyers. (Shudder!)
Beck acts like it's a mystery who these "dangerous" black children are. "They've sealed this as tight as a drum," he says with his characteristic nervous urgency. The subtext is clear: be afraid! Be very afraid of this mysterious video!
Well, mystery solved. Thanks to one of my commenters at Osborne Ink, Obama's Secret Negro Army™ has been positively identified...as high school step dancers. You know, like these guys:
Dated October 9th, 2008, here's a YouTube description from Christiv3:
A typical step show on college campuses throughout the country. The young kids from the "Obama Junior Fraternity" are emulating a historically black fraternity that is found on college campuses throughout the nation. Their teacher was probably a member.
Young men in this fraternity DO go on to become teachers, doctors, lawyers, architects and engineers. Not a bad way to achieve these goals..
These kids want to go to college so they can be like the men in this video who are in college and are pursueing their dreams.
Other members of this fraternity include Bill Cosby, Jesse Jackson, Langston Hughes, Count Basie and Michael Jordan.
Cosby, Basie, and Jordan? Commies, all of 'em.
The kids in Beck's video are students at the Urban Community Leadership Academy in Kansas City, Missouri. How did I learn this? Why, from going to the original "Negro army" YouTube video post, which bears this ominous note from "Homonoid" including the school address, which I've partially redacted:
Get that? If you're an Obama supporter, it's only 'cause you've been hypnotized by racist step dancing. It has nothing to do with the fact you agree with him on, say, the public option. And woe for everyone if Obama hadn't been elected, because we'd all be under attack by angry step-dancing children with shattered dreams of middle-class employment.Imagine what these kids and other militant zealots like them will do if Obama isn't elected?
This is where it was shot:
URBAN COMMUNITY LEADERSHIP ACADEMY
XXXX XXXXX XXXX
XXXX X XXXX District, Kansas City, MOThis Black Panther racist style of indoctrination really reflects the psychology of most of his supporters on a larger scale.
Over at an anti-Obama website, "Meg" claims to have interviewed Joyce McGautha, Director of the Urban Community Leadership Academy. (We can only imagine what that was like for poor Ms. McGautha.) Noting the teacher who made the video was suspended for releasing it to the public, Meg proclaims:
This teacher needs to be fired, the school needs to be investigated to ensure that no other videos were produced as well as ensuring that no other teachers or administrators were involved or condoned this video. A further concern is if grades were given for this "assignment", those need to be corrected. Additionally there needs to be oversight into the operations and curriculum being taught at this school to ensure this type of abuse of the students does no happen again. (sic)
Mind you, the election was still in progress when this video first showed up on Beck's program. The argument Beck and Meg made then was that teachers shouldn't use the impending election of the nation's first black president to, y'know, encourage black children to succeed in school. They're making the same argument now that Obama is president.
This really disturbs me. As a child, I was raised to have respect for presidents. As a parent, I enforced respect for the office on my own child even in the worst years of the Bush administration.
But now that a black man holds the office, tinfoil-hat lunatics say children should not learn to respect presidents, nor should presidents encourage them to succeed. It's an incredible hypocrisy.
About the military garb: it's not at all unusual in step dance. Christiv3 adds this note:
They typically wear camo pants, purple shirts and gold boots to do their step routines. The camo pants are practical for the athletic movements, are inexpensive and can be found anywhere in army surplus stores. (Emphasis mine)
Christiv3 isn't lying. Camouflage pants are, in fact, incredibly common in step dance:
Actually, a Google Video search turned up approximately 168,000 step dance videos. Right away, I found three with camo pants:
My, they look so very militant, these Nazi Negroes!
But wait! Beck's video was made during a rehearsal. Maybe there's still some mystery here? Anyone still not convinced had better enjoy step dance practice videos, because there are at least 567 of them on YouTube alone.
How could Beck be unaware of all this? He's got a multi-million dollar contract and a horde of investigative journalists at the Fox News Channel, and he can't get this basic information in two weeks? Please. It took me five minutes and cost nothing, and I've never watched step dance before in my life.
Obama's Secret Negro Army™ is a fabrication, and so is the outrage. Putting Farrakhan in between two Black Panthers at a polling station and a student step dance video is pure, unadulterated racist fearmongering. Glenn Beck is a racist, and a disgustingly obvious one. That's no mystery at all: to date, 57 sponsors have already figured it out.
UPDATE: Over at Osborne Ink, one of my commenters suggests the step-dance troupe in Beck's video is The Marching Cobras:
The COBRAS have won over 280 first place awards and trophies in competition and their List of special performances reads like that of a professional group. They've starred in several television commercials and other media advertising campaigns, have been invited to perform Twice for the President of the United States, and have done a TV pilot show in Hollywood with all expenses paid for their efforts. But like most success stories, it hasn't happened overnight. They started practicing in all kinds of weather in Willie Smith's front yard and walked five miles to their first "public" performance. Adult volunteers attracted to the glamour of the popular group have come and gone, sometimes causing (as adults are so much more prone to do than children) more trouble than they were worth. Willie Smith has remained the heart and soul of the COBRAS throughout its 34 year history, building the organization with "blood, sweat, and tears" and every penny he could spare from the meager salary of a teacher. While the last few years have been kinder, only a man of true dedication whose chief concern was "his kids" could have stuck it out through so many lean years. He freely admits that he loves performing; being what he calls "out front". And, he certainly enjoys the success of the COBRAS. He's a "public figure" whose accomplishments are seen by many as an outstanding example of commitment to youth. Although personally the recipient of numerous public service awards, Willie gives the credit for all it to God.
Is this what we're supposed to be afraid of?

This is the problem of not have Black studies courses in schools. As a member of a Black fraternity there is no way Beck should not at least be familiar with step shows. We have been doing this for decades. Hell, the majority of Black lawyers, doctors, judges, engineers and politicians are members of Black sororities and fraternities. We've been here for 400 years why is there so much ignorance about us? And why the hell do Bill O'reilly, who recently discovered after 50 years of life Black people can actually use forks and knives and don't scream "get me more m-f'n iced tea" and Beck who admited to not having any Black friends for fear of offending them get to say ANYTHING about race? These dolts have as much information about race as Limbaugh has about atmospheric science but they regularly spout off on this topic. Shame. He and other conservative commentators have no interest in finding common ground among Americans only creating discord.
Amen to that. It's a damn shame.
Hate is no longer just hoods and sheets, it's now represented by the Becks, Hannitys, Limbaughs on TV, Talk Radio and Evangelical Churches. The humble and extremely bright and intelligent isn't even given an honest chance to talk to the children of this country.
Even though hate is loud and seems to be the only voice getting through, according to history, hate never wins. It gives me hope to know that their are on the wrong side of history, and the Republicans can continue to side with their racist base, but I believe their party will pay a high cost. Most of my family was Republican, but the racism turned us all away.
Beck has seemed uncommonly rattled, fragile, and shaky the last couple of weeks. I have this image of him spending hours each night going from progressive website to progressive website, shaking and sweating as he reads and rereads what the hated liberals are saying about him.
Think he's upset because he's got no sense of rhythm and he's intimidated by those who can dance.
I don't know... he seems to stay on subject pretty much. And what does dancing have to do with anything anyway?
I don't think he really cares what liberal think about him.
Welp, guess they're gonna have to make him care aren't they?
Wow - you obviously don't watch the show or know much at all about Beck and his concerns/questions regarding truth in our government. This isn't about Glenn, nor does he care what is being said about him. The problem is, people - like most of you, who don't have a clue as to what is really going on under the radar. Obama is being asked questions - questions that he seems to try and dive under the rug from - questions that are legitimate and one's that all of us should be asking regardless of whether or not you support our president or like him.
Beck is not a racist, a hate monger, a lier, or what ever else you want to label him as...he is; however, someone who does come out and say what he feels and admits not always being right. He also asks if he's wrong, then challenge him on it. Don't just respond with stupid propaganda and outlandish remarks - state something of substance and back it up with truth.
Beck doesn't care about liberals/converatives, Republican/Democrat, black/white - he cares about the truth and the constitution, and I happen to as well. When are people going to wake up and start demanding answers from our government?
"Not a racist, a hate monger, a lier (sic) or what ever (sic) else you want to label him as..."
Step dancers. 'Nuff said.
What a communist organization! Kids should not be encouraged to learn in school. People who learn go on to write subversive documents like, say, the Declaration of Independence. If you don't think this is threatening to the very fabric of the United States of America, then ask the British what happens when reason takes hold in people who are supposed to be subservient!
??? Are you saying you are against the Declaration of Independence? I'm confused.
To be fair, I've always felt that step dancing is a little bit scary to me. Not as scary as Irish riverdancing, though. Brrrr....
So Beck's really scared about black college students becoming doctors, lawyers, and teachers? Personally, I'm more afraid of black college students NOT becoming doctors, lawyers, and teachers.
But don't you see, those black doctors will be the foot soldiers of public healthcare.
Beck, as in Wreck.
So black kids dancing in camouflage is BAAAAD, but whites carrying weapons to the Presidents town hall meetings is GOOOOOOD
???????????????????????????????????????
That's an accurate description of the Beck formula.
wow, again how wrong people are. In this country people have the right to have fire arms. I know, what an atrocity! How dare us protect ourselves. Whether you like it or not we have that right and they don't do much good if you keep them home! That's why we carry them, because we have the right to.
Cancel your cable, now!
But I'll miss the return of "Fringe"!
but the new sons of anarchy is tuesday! i cant cancel yet!
Why? The only times I ever see Fox News is at my gym where, for some demented reason, it's on the TV directly above the lower back extension machine.
Mmm., yeah. I know that when I saw Riverdance, I had to fight mysterious urges to throw darts at pictures of the Queen. I also have a craving for corned beef that goes unabated to this very day. Damn that multinational commie dance conspiracy!
All that foot-tapping is hypnotic, you know.
Why don't you just stop viewing the trainwreck of @glennbeck and state the obvious
He is a mentally disturbed whitemale who's hitched his lame rodeo clown comedy star on the back of an angel in disguise.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iL_RbCGxqsc
He is a danger to himself and civiiity in general
Not gonna argue with your point. Unfortunately, this dangerously deluded (or deluding) man has an audience of millions.
And we have hundreds of millions!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! He can take his 3 million and put it against 3 million of ours. Ours will be better educated, better informed, have more teeth, and have higher a disposable income. They will have biec and faux. We will have truth and the facts. DEAL OR NO DEAL. WINGNUTS?
So, if it's not the waltz, tango, ballet, or square dancing and it's being performed by young women and men of color---then automatically it's "too different" and falls under suspicion? Right...(sarcasm)
When youth of diverse ethnic backgrounds who are in college (or high school) aspire to become future doctors, lawyers, architects, and engineers so they can contribute to society and lead productive lives are engaging in extracurricular activities that promote discipline, hard work, and being a member of a team---then we should be very "scared" and consider them "dangerous." Riiiggghhhttt...(sarcasm)
Even if these youth aren't participating in negative behaviors such as hazing, drug use, and over-the-top alcohol abuse---then this has to mean that something isn't kosher because it's just not the typical behavior that we've come to expect from "those people." Riiigggghhhttt...(sarcasm)
Though no credible link has been found to indicate otherwise we just know something is going on because well...the President is "different" too---then this is probably their chance to finally bring the country to its knees. Riiiggghhhttt...(sarcasm)
Forget the fact that fatigues have been a staple of casual wear since the 70s. When children of color are wearing them and (gasp) dancing---then it's a sure sign they're training for secret civilian armies. Riiiggghhhttt..(sarcasm)
Are people really so gullible and easily manipulated to believe this nonsense? Will they take a collective breath and realize just how badly they're being used? Riiiggghhhttt...(sarcasm)
Heh. Next time, just end with (/snark) It's the international symbol for sarcasm.
I want my country baaacccckkkk from those scary step dancers....
They're dancing in ancient Satanic rhythms that praise Cthulu! (/snark)
SNARK SNARK
If you stop and think of this isn't this just the secret 'black helicopters' conspiracy theory with a racial paranoia overlay?
The problem isn't that such delusional persons exist, but that a national media outlet would use its resources to promote them? There used to be an ethic in America that corporation, particularly those with a public trust like broadcasters, should be good public citizens. Maybe that notion is now quaint in the era of hundreds of cable channels competing against each other.
Hopefully when Stewart and Colbert get back they can complete the job of making Beck the national laughingstock. Beck will double down on it of course, At some point the other Fox Hosts like O'Riley will worry about their own credibility being hurt by association with Beck. That is likely the only thing that will put a lid on the crazyness.
That and fleeing sponsors.
You're absolutely right to ask about the 'black helicopters' aspect of Beck's performance. He's channeling the Alex Jones cult.
That delusion has long been gone my friend, as soon as the right took over our media. It will never be the same again. The media has lost its "soul" to big bucks and that's a fact jack.
Can GB get any more delusional?
That's just it. Beck's not "delusional," he's DELUDING. He HAS to know what utter nonsense it is -- he's the one MAKING IT UP. So I don't believe for a minute that his hypocrisy's not conscious and deliberate.
I think it's worse. I think he's an Elmer Gantry cheap emotionalist who believes his own bullshit. All the "connections" he draws between things, all the fake symbolism--I wonder how long you can fool around with that stuff before you start to make yourself crazy.
Who has so little to do to pay attention to the utterly mindless drool spewing from the twisted lying lips of GBeck? When are we going to shut down his capital stream by not supporting any of his sponsors. The danger is giving the nincompoop a forum to spout annd then actually responding.Treat GB,RL,MM,SH,AC like any crazy on a city sidewalk and walk on by.
You cannot engage Teh Crazy™. You have to reject it and ridicule it. See Barney Frank town hall video for an example of how it's done!
Can you explain in detail how he is lying? Please give me some examples.
