Ann Coulter Insults Me and Hundreds of Combat Veterans

On Hannity on April 30th, Ann Coulter criticized me for speaking out against torture, mocking my service and stated, "I did not know the Air Force had interrogators."

This is an insult to hundreds of Air Force combat veterans who were trained as interrogators by the U.S. Army as reported in an official release by the Air Force News Service in 2005.

In addition, one of the most experienced interrogators in the U.S. military with experience conducting interrogations dating back to Panama is Colonel Steve Kleinman, an Air Force Reservist.

It is one thing to disagree with my personal opinion about torture, but quite disrespectful to mock the service of hundreds of combat veterans from Iraq and Afghanistan based on their service in the Air Force. Ann, however, has never conducted an interrogation (or served in combat) so I fail to see why Sean Hannity invited her to comment as an expert on interrogations.

For the record, there were three Air Force interrogators who played a key role in the killing of Zarqawi, and all five Air Force interrogators in my group were awarded Bronze Star Medals for their achievements in Iraq. Yes, the Air Force has interrogators.

Ann Coulter
but still only shows 1/64th the true hate of Keith Olberman
04:17 PM on 05/07/2009
One of the most ridiculus things being said by the Right-Wing talking heads is that Keith is filled with hate. The Man does a special comment spot where he sticks up for our Constitution and our laws and the Republicans say he is filled with Hate.....HAAA! Is it because the Republicans are constantly snubbing their noses at our Constitution and our established rights and Laws? YES!!! It Is!!! The Right Wing ignores our Constitution, Spies on citizens of this Country, commits acts of Treason by outing top-secret CIA spies and breaks long-standing Treaties (The geneva Convention) that put our Military in danger, destroy our Reputation and our Credibility around the World and Kieth O. reads them the riot act, for the sake of our Country. For this, the Right calls him a hate monger.
Please count me is as one of Keith's biggest fans!! Anyone that points out how Un-American and Un-Patriotic these people are is a Hero in my Book.

Can you imagine if they made detainees listen to Coulter, Rush, Hannity, Beck, & Bill-O simultaneously. Now that's torture.

"I didn't know...." -Ann Coulter

A rare moment of frankness about her own ignorance, if you ask me.

Zarqawi was killed in an airstrike as a result of information gained by information obtained by sucessful interrogations performed by the Air Force interrogators - to be clear, Zarqawi was NOT killed during interrogation...

It is such a travesty that you had to listen to her tripe and to write this blog. That woman is an insult to us all. I'd like to see her military record. It seems that the loudest critics have not served one milli-second in the services.

They should send Ann Coulter to conduct interrogations, but I guess that would be the truest definition of torture, so that will never happen.

And Hannity, who offered to be waterboarded "for charity," has punked out on his offer, not surprisingly.

I would like to say one thing to you, Matthew, that nobody can say to Hannity or Coulter: Thank you for your service, and welcome home.

Thanks to Mr. Alexander for clearing this up. Another Coulter unqualified gaffe. I have to say though when reading this line "Ann, however, has never conducted an interrogation (or served in combat) so I fail to see why Sean Hannity invited her to comment as an expert on interrogations." You could replace "conducted an interrogation (or served in combat)" and "interrogations" with a very large number of experiences and subject matters and have a long list of equally baffling questions about her media presence. Similarly Hannity lacks experience and expertise on most of what he rails about. The real answer is pure dishonest politics of course.

Why would it bother someone to be insulted by Ann Coulter? Isn't that like being insulted by Joe the Plumber?

I mean, years ago when she was a best-selling screed-writer with great legs, it might have mattered...a little, but now... I don't think so. Everyone has heard everything Ann Coulter has to say and everything she has to say is either self-serving or ugly... unless it's both. Slime looses it's entertainment value over time. Her decline was predictable; her book sales reflect that limited audience for opinionated viciousness. An insult from Ann Coulter is the moral equivalent of being on Michelle Bachmann's enemy's list, which would be a small honor actually.

They love 'da trewps' until one of 'da trewps' dares disagree with their opinions.

And a right-winger who is mystified by how the military works? Say it ain't so!

Everyone who's saying to ignore her is completely right. What people like Ann Coulter fear most isn't the liberal media or being despised for their comments. What they fear most is insignificance and obscurity. We should do everything we can to give it to her.
