Is Fox News Trying To Ruin The Ron Paul Revolution?

digg Share this on Facebook Huffpost - stumble reddit del.ico.us RSS

Over eggs and toast this morning, team DoubleSpeak decided to dedicate our day to covering Ron Paul. Given the attention that is on Iowa today and the reality that this campaign will likely be flip-turned-upside-down overnight after the caucus, we ventured off to wade gingerly into Ron Paul's New Hampshire revolution.

Whoever said the revolution will not be televised did not know DoubleSpeak and OffTheBus.

To say that we found anything near conventional would be completely false. The campaign looks nothing like operations we've been around in the past. A bearded ukulele player greeted us at the front door as scores of volunteers- many seemingly from out of state- prepared for one of their visibility "marches" back and forth to the New Hampshire statehouse which is a couple blocks away. The march was led by a gentlemen dressed in a revolutionary war uniform beating a drum as his flock chanted. But, this isn't just a campaign...it's a revolution. Revolutions need drummers...right?

As has been reported by Brent Budowsky, Fox News is not allowing Rep. Paul to participate in the January 6th forum here in New Hampshire. We have found that this story has gotten significant legs here in the state but our read is that with Paul not exceeding expectations during tonight's caucuses, Fox will continue to ignore the Texas congressman.

If you like the video, you can listen to an extended podcast of our time with the Paul campaign.

Tonight we swung by the Obama HQ party to check out the results and say hi to an old friend, Rep. Pat Murphy who was hanging out with the Obama crew. Lots of excitement and anticipation over there.

Tomorrow morning it's up at 5:30 AM. We've got a lot of stops to make all over the state.

Stay tuned.

Update: Campaign officials have confirmed to us that the Paul campaign is planning a counter-event on Sunday night and that details would be released shortly.

So true. He really does belong in Texas.(sorry Austin) It's the perfect venue for him. On a national level he has nothing to offer anyone with a brain or a heart.

The interesting thing about Ron Paul thus far is that his tremendous, recent fundraising success is countered by his inability to win votes and popular support at the ballot box.

If he continues to raise money, but doesn't connect on Primary Day, then do these networks have to continue to feature him in debates throughout the campaign season?

this has been happening all along. faux neocons are threatened by paul's message of limited spending, sound money, and non-interventionist foreign policy

It seems a little perverted, but in a way I'm hoping that Fox does all that it can to deny Ron Paul fair coverage. Why? Because Fox is just now facing the reality that has only the confused fringe of wishfull agenda driven reactionaries actually watching them (the pat robertson crowd). In their biased coverage they reveal themselves for what they are and have always been; the tool of the corporate kleptocracy which happens to find most favor with the GOP these days but contributes heavily to the Dems as well...covering its base, y'know. But I'm pretty sure they aren't trying to help the forces whose success would result in fewer government funds to squander, such as Ron Paul and the message of smaller government. Really,it's every bit as bizarre but just as undeniably true, seeing the crime families in bed with the religious right in keeping recreational drugs criminalized and filling our prison industries Inc with cash and clout. It empowers them both and they have such similar ideals.
Fox's campaign to discredit and/or ignore Paul has been backfiring steadily and all I can hope for is more of the same.
Oh, and remember the Fox fave Giuliani???..me neither. See...sometimes you can't fool all the people just when you think it would do you some good.

Its quite amusing to see the MSM paint tiny little corners for the candidates to climb around in!
The MSM leaves no room for error and has predetermined the election.
To call one a "possible spoiler" insinuates that a determined outcome already existed.
Eitherway, Ron has been through this before.
They ignore him all the time in our district.
The people however, DO NOT!
WE LISTEN TO HIM!
We know the media ignores him. He always wins from this MSM blunder.
He has won 10 consecutive times the same way he will now.

He will use this to gain more support for the antimedia underdog and use it as a lynch pin into SC.
MSM does not say how broke each campaign really is.
The MSM must really want Huckabee, they sure give him enough free airtime, but this too will fade.
Nothing is free.
I would watch out for Guilliani in Florida, but I have family members who are Republicans that say Rootie may be in for a surprize.
Stay Tuned.

What's also bad is the amount of time Fox had Giuliani on during its Iowa return broadcast. He was on repeatedly. I have no problem with them giving him air time but they were giving him huge amounts of time in an apparent effort to compensate for his failure to compete in Iowa.

Nice work lads. I'm itching to see what N.H. voters will serve up on Tuesday. It will be interesting to see how Huckabee fares in a non evangelical environment. Plus, lets face it, it's a vote, not a bunch of neighbors getting together in the gym for a few hours (and possibly missing '30 Rock?).
