It is a truly exciting time for Glenn Beck. After trolling away on CNN Headline News, Glenn Beck finally received the call that all right wing shills dream of. Glenn Beck has signed a deal with the Fox News Channel.
For a Republican mouthpiece like Beck, it's like being promoted from AAA to the Big Leagues. Or since we're talking about Fox News, I guess it's more like joining an organized crime syndicate.
Among Republicans, Glenn Beck is now a made man. Take a look.
To quote Ray Liotta in Goodfellas.
"See, it's the highest honor they can give you. It means you belong to a family and crew. It means that nobody can f*ck around with you. It also means you could f*ck around with anybody just as long as they aren't also a member. It's like a license to steal. It's a license to do anything."
Glenn Beck is now part of the Fox Family, and the Murdoch Crew. He now answers only to the Foxfather, Don Rupert, and his consigliere, Roger Ailes. He becomes a capo along with Sean "The Hammer" Hannity, Bill "The Loofah" O'Reilly and Steve "Loosey" Doocy.
And don't think he isn't ready. He is. He's proven his ruthlessness time and time again.
Who can forget his calling Hillary Clinton a "stereotypical bitch"? His hit on the families of 9-11 victims? Or the time he asked Congressman Keith Ellison, America's first ever Muslim congressman to "prove to me that you are not working with our enemies"?
Glenn Beck has served the Republicans well, and so now, he gets the ultimate reward, his own show on the network that respects "fair and balanced" reporting the same way the actual Mafia respects the "law".

Glen Beck hosts an OPINION SHOW...Why are you people attacking someone for having a different opinion than you?
Do you realize how absurd you come across when making disparaging remarks about someone who's whole premise is telling you his opinions on issues. It's not like he host a news hour on CNN where a pro-liberal bias is overwhelming; no, he hosts a talk show.
So please, feel free to attack the bias of actual NEWS reporting, such as on FOX, MSNBC, or CNN. But do not attack a man for having a different OPINION than your own.
I have nothing against dissenting voices, as I have nothing against assenting voices. All I am asking for is non-senting voices (i.e. neither for or against - and yes, I made that word up). I just want some news where the reader keeps his or her opinion to themselves and gives me the right to make up my own mind. You are more than welcome to watch Fox or MSNBC or anyone else - especially if you need someone to guide your thoughts. I prefer to make my own decisions. All I am asking for is a little non-biased news. I do hope that answers your question.
Mr. Beck joins a long line of TV programs that have earned an automatic"Skip" on my TV dial. Beginning with anything with the word FOX in it, Gretchen, Nancy , and now Beck....I am the ultimate referee in my house, and I jealously guard my environment to keep it from being polluted by the many blowhards now given a tv SHOW...
I have a question. What do you have against disenting voices? It just seems like you all seem so threatened by Fox News and talk radio. Now, you have CBS, NBC, ABC, MSNBC, CNN, NPR, 95 % of the newspapers, 98% of Colleges and k-12. Why does it get under your skin that we have our little old talk radio and Fox News.
Now that Beck is leaving HNN, can we please have some straight unpunditized, non-bloviated news from the channel that calls itself Headline News? I used to watch HNN all the time until Grace "reared her head" over Alaska and the lower 48. Adding Beck to the mix, and then repeating both shows ad infinitum (and ad nauseum) meant I had no place to watch pure news. I'll watch Olbermann and Maddow if I want punditization, but I sure would like to see some unvarnished, unbiased news - Just the facts, ma'am (Joe Friday or is that Joe the Friday?).

I think that's an excellent idea, sjon.
Please ignore my previous, wrong thread.
I wonder what the record is for responses by one poster in a single thread?
Personally, I often find the Campbell Browns, Anderson Coopers, and and other hosts at CNN much more blatantly partisan in their views.
With Glenn, there is little doubt left as to which side he has taken long ago. He kind of hits you over the head with it.
In the case of CNN, its far more manipulative, subversive, "wink-wink." Stack your panels. Make certain your independents are at least leaning the direction you want them to. Utilize your own research polls and study groups in all of the poll data you release. Use extensive use of terms like "no bias/no bull", "fact tracker" - then release your own version of these facts or results.
So yes, Glenn probably does have a better home at Fox. There is no doubt that it was a combination of him wanting to leave, and CNN wanting him to leave.
Like the NYT, CNN passes (if barely) the true test of partisanship, which is that both sides consider them in the enemy camp. No such confusion with Fox.
Fox will peak now. Following the paradigm shift that is going on, Fox will be relegated to a niche for loonies in the next few years. It's "stars" collapsing with it.

Hope you're right, RingWorlder.
This is great news. Glenn Beck deserves a promotion for all his hard work at exposing clueless liberals and conservatives about the sorry state of this nation. The great thing about Beck's show is that in one hour you can get more information on the state of the world than this entire website.
I'm sure most of the surfers on this web site hate him, but only because they rely on biased word of mouth rants to make their opinions. Yes, Beck is ruthless to the liberal orthodoxy, but he is no less kind to conservatives. Unlike most right wing or leftie pundits he doesn't hesitate to blast McCain and Obama, and he often does it in the same show.
Beck is far closer to being a libertarian contrarian, even populist, but bloggers like Filipowicz probably wouldn't understand the difference from that and conservatism.
Beck is strongly critical of both Obama and McCain. Hopefully he won't change that just because he went to Fox.
When I've watched Glen Beck (and I have) the term "libertarian contrarian" wasn't what came to mind. It was more like "that man is completely batsh*t insane".
Yes, the former FM Disk Jockey has the answer to all the world's problems. How silly of me not to have noticed.
I'm personally glad he's on FOX, it consolidates all their voices into a single channel that I can now systematically avoid.
Now if only we could move Nancy Grace...

That certainly is a plus.
Glen Beck gives off an air that he's smarter than the average right wing pundit. He's clearly smarter than Hannity, that's for sure. He has the sarcasm down and everything. But at the end of the day, he's not smart enough. And that's why he's on Fox news.

Now there's a debate. Who's smarter? Hannity or Beck?
Smarter than Hannity?
My cat is smarter than Hannity and I have a couple of houseplants that could give him a run for his money.
Glenn Beck is in a class all by himself. Worse, IMHO, than hannity and o'reilly.
He tries to paint himself as just a regular joe trying to make sense of it all when, in reality, he is against all things Democrat.
I remember when the primaries first started he made such an issue about Hillary's voice. Of all the things in the world to critique our politician about, gb's sore point? The timbre of her voice?

I'm with you, blaqntelligence.
I accidentally bought Beck's book, not realizing he was right wing and laughing at a few of the things in the store when I popped it open. The book actually ended up sucking. He spent too much time telling blackout stories -- he is a recovering alcoholic.

Wow. Did you keep the receipt?
Yes sireee Bob, now Glenn is a made man, just like his good buddy ted nugent who has boasted in no fewer than 4 major publications to urinating and defecating in his pants to avoid serving his country. "Birds of a Feather" Glenn you're in dam good company.

Hopefully the Nuge won't give Glenn "Cat Scratch Fever".
