Ok, so you don't really need another reason to stuff your face with amazing Mexican food but with the opening of Mesita in Rockville Centre, Long Island NY's latest Mexican restaurant arrival, it's time to revel in all things south of the border.

Here are 5 reasons to bask in your love of Mexican food.

1. Because Tacos

Pescado & Cacmarones Tacos (Fish and Shrimp Tacos)

Mesita brings their A game when it comes to tacos. Pescado Tacos are Fried talapia, citrus red cabbage, pico de gallo, and chipotle mayo on a flour tortilla. The fish is locally sourced and has such a fresh taste. The lightly breaded and flash-fried talapia has a buttery feel and shines wonderfully through the entourage of taste bud fondling toppings. Cacmarones Tacos are filled with marinated shrimp, ancho chile, cilantro, sliced red onions, fresh avocado and double wrapped in a corn tortilla. Once again showing that freshness allows for a simple and delicious approach to tacos worthy of going into the face.

De Carne & Puerco Rostisado Tacos (Skirt Steak & Pulled Pok Tacos)

De Carne tacos have grilled skirt steak, grilled asparagus, pico de gallo, crumbled queso fresco and chihuahua cheese, lovingly placed on a corn tortilla. The asparagus gives a great crunch and the flavors really come together nicely. It's taco bliss! Puerco Rostisado tacos with slow roasted pulled pork cooked with achiote sauce, fresh avocado, pickled onions, cilantro and corn tortilla are way too delicious. The pickled onions add crisp texture and lively flavor with the creaminess of the avocados, melding into a serious bite. Herbivores and carnivores will love the Vegetales tacos with roasted corn, zucchini, sliced red onions, pico de gallo, avocado and queso fresco served on a flour tortilla. If you're looking to go crazy and eat lots of tacos, Taco Tuesday will be your best friend.

2. Because Street Corn

Elotes Callejeros (Street Corn)

One of my faves from the group of dishes, the grilled corn on the cob with chipotle mayo, queso cotija and fresh lime. Zow! Punchy and zesty flavors. They'll also serve it de-cobbed drizzled with chipotle mayo, cheese and all the goodness on top!

3. Because Nachos

Nachos De La Casa

A unique take on a classic, the Nachos De La Casa are stacked crispy corn tortillas, refritos, guacamole, roasted corn salsa, crema and queso fresco topped with a glorious sunnyside egg. The chef uses a cutter tableside as you watch, slicing through the crisp layers making scoopable toppings and nacho chips from the stack as the beautiful egg yolk comes oozing down the tower of tastiness. It's a sight worth seeing and eating.

4. Because Skirt Steak

Carne en la Parrilla (Skirt Steak)

I love skirt steak so much, especially when it is marinated. Tender asparagus wrapped in grilled marinated skirt steak, cooked to perfection served with yuca frita and citrus red cabbage. This exceptional entree is the Carne en la Parrilla, the antidote for the hangriest hanger. Large enough to share but you'll want your own. Steak!!!

5. Because Craft Cocktails

Specialty Cocktails

Mesita has 93 tequilas on the reserve list including their in-house jalapeño infused tequila and pineapple infused tequila. The quality of the selections are top notch and very fine, keeping the connoisseur in mind as well as the casual drinker. With the craft cocktail scene slowly on the rise on Long Island, coming in from NYC, Brooklyn and Queens, Mesita adds their own brand of specialty cocktails. They're also serving classics like The Mexican Mule. A refreshing cold glass of tequila, lime juice, simple syrup and ginger beer. Margaritas, Mojitos and Sangrias also create a lavish selection of libations while wine is tapped with a process that retains excellent freshness. This makes for the best tasting wine possible.

Overall, the food is tremendous, great selection and addictive. It's made fresh and made-to-order. The ambiance is perfect for nightlife and daytime dining, dates, groups and parties, with live music and fiestas every Friday night. Being from California as well as New York, it brings a smile to my face to know I can get some crave crushing tacos here on the east coast as well as some killer Mexican inspired chicken wings. Thank you Mesita for coming to town!
