Hating on Megan Fox

Megan Fox seems to have stirred about a big pile of poo by talking to a magazine about Michael Bay and his dictatorial tactics on the set of Transformers.  Setting aside her talent -- or lack thereof --  (she was so bad in the first Transformers but I don't blame her since I know the part was written for her to just look like a sexpot, and she is really bad in Jennifer's Body) she has guts to call a spade a spade.

Here's part of the quote of what she said to a magazine:

He wants to be like Hitler on his sets, and he is. So he's a nightmare to work for but when you get him away from set, and he's not in director mode, I kind of really enjoy his personality because he's so awkward, so hopelessly awkward.

That's not so bad to me.  But then some idiot anonymous crew members (and yes, you are idiots) decided they had to to defend Michael Bay from Megan and escalated the rhetoric by calling her "dumb as a rock" on Bay's site.

Yes, Megan has great eyes, a tight stomach we spray with glycerin, and an awful silly Marilyn Monroe tattoo plastered on her arm that we cover up to keep the moms happy.

and

So this is the Megan Fox you don’t get to see. Maybe she will learn, but we figure if she can sling insults, then she can take them too. Megan really is a thankless, classless, graceless, and shall we say unfriendly bitch. It's sad how fame can twist people, and even sadder that young girls look up to her. If only they knew who they're really looking up to.

But ‘fame’ is fleeting. We, being behind the scenes, seen em’ come and go. Hopefully Michael will have Megatron squish her character in the first ten minutes of Transformers 3. We can tell you that will make the crew happy.

Bay removed the letter from his site and then added this:

I don’t condone the crew letter to Megan. And I don’t condone Megan’s outlandish quotes. But her crazy quips are part of her crazy charm. The fact of the matter I still love working with her, and I know we still get along. I even expect more crazy quotes from her on Transformers 3.

Another crew member has stood up and used his name to defend her from the crew rant

Contrary to popular belief, she is like us (human) and has both good and bad days as well. Working on the Transformers movies can be intense at times and sometimes intense situations cause intense moments.

So now Fox has been chastened and released the following statement: “I am very fortunate to be involved in this amazing franchise and look forward to Transformers 3.”

So why do I care about this?  It's Megan's job to do press.  It's part of her job to create interest in the film to keep people coming back for more and more.  It's not the job of anonymous crew members to defend their star director who is known in Hollywood for being a sexist.  To me, Megan and Michael Bay seem to have developed some sort of sick back and forth about the film.  He discovered her so probably feels she should be like most women: pretty and silent.  But she's not, and clearly she's not as dumb as a rock, which you can tell from earlier statements she has made about the film business.

This is about getting Megan to shut up.  This is about getting women to shut up.  It's about using sexist insults like being pretty and dumb to shut up a woman with opinions.  Not cool.  But I guess all the press this week will help drive up the grosses of Jennifer's Body which opens on Friday.

Melissa, This is about someone’s behavior and not whether this person was female or male. The employees found this behavior unacceptable. While Michael might find it charming, the people who had to work with this person and her ego experienced something totally different.

This type of behavior is being tolerated too often and the stress and fall-out is being forced on those who have to work or live with the offending person. This is not about a woman with opinions. This is about an adult, of any gender, who hasn’t learned the world doesn’t revolve around them and who doesn’t have a clue on how to behave as a mature being. Hopefully, if she is as difficult as her fellow workers have stated, she’s only going through a stage of growth and she will eventually wake up, straighten out her priorities and act like the “classy” person she is capable of being.

No.. this has nothing to do with sexism against Megan Fox. If you carefully read the letter about her it mentions no where about her gender nor decrying it. It has to do with the fact that she is a nightmare to work with, and in their words, is a "classless, graceless" and ungrateful person to work around.

When you cry wolf (or in this case sexism) when it CLEARLY is not the case, it substantially undercuts and devalues legitimate claims of sexism.

This article is horrifically irresponsible.

I couldn't agree more with the statement regarding this article's lack of responsibility.

It seems to me they were trying to say judge her by more than her looks and her charms, her personality is rotten - quite the opposite of sexism.

not sure why you say Megan and bay are having a back and forth as it was her and some guys that worked on the transformers if anything bay stopped it by pulling the letter from the site

That business is so full of ego maniacs I dont know how anybody gets along to get a film made. At least the director had sense enough to not condone the backlash from his crew. He's in charge of millions of dollars of borrowed money and shouldn't even be engaging in this petty back and forth that her crew is doing. Who told them to take it upon themselves to defend Bay? Is he their father or something?

Hi Ohioan,
When you have a team who needs to work together on any project, and you have a spoiled or egotistical brat or two interfering with the rest of the team, it’s up to the director/boss or manager to take action. This letter may have come across as mean or petty but it was a sign of sheer frustration on the part of the other employees. I certainly didn’t see the letter as anyone defending Michael Bay. It seems the entertainment business has more than their share of “naughty” or ego driven employees. What recourse does the rest of the team have when faced with this situation? They didn’t just wake up one morning and decided to slice and dice this actress. This began long before the letter appeared on the net. It’s not about this one person; it’s about all the dysfunctional people that we have to work with every day. It’s about administers, managers, directors and bosses who don’t have the wherewithal to do their jobs and who expect everyone else to kowtow around the troublemakers. Of course, if the troublemaker looks good (male or female!) that’s a plus and even more of an incentive to not take matters in hand. Hopefully, now that the employees vented, they’ll be able to get on with their work and have enough energy to deal with the next “star” that comes along.

What an amazing coincidence. A bunch of conveniently anonymous alleged Transformers crew members slam Megan Fox the very same week that her new movie comes out. What possible reason could there be not to believe this is real?

Look, I have no opinion either way on her alleged talent or alleged lack thereof, as I have never seen any of the Transformers movies and, God willing, I never will, but the timing is just too obvious...
