Although I have been blessed with so many of my dreams becoming a reality this past year, I have still had some struggles with truly embracing the concept of abundance in my life. There are times that it seems to flow easily and effortlessly, and times that it doesn't even flow at all.
Abundance tends to be something that we all want in our lives. Yet when we come from the energy of wanting, we are sending a message to the universe that we don't fully believe we will get what we are looking for. Then doubt begins to creep in, and clouds our judgment. The more intense our "want" becomes, the stronger our doubt begins to play a role in preventing us from actually getting it. The more we look outside of ourselves to satisfy our wants and desires, the more unsatisfied we actually become. What if everything that we truly want -- everything that we seek to have -- is already present within us?
I have recently realized that my default mentality is one of always striving but never arriving. The more that I want, the more wanting I get. When I am sick I want to be healthy, when I am sad I want to be happy, when I don't have enough money I want to be rich. If I don't do anything about it, the list keeps growing and I am never truly satisfied no matter what shows up in my life. Even when I receive what I want in some areas of my life, there is always more to have, more to accomplish and more to strive for.
When this came up for me last week, I was able to call myself out on it and take a deeper look at why it was surfacing. For years I have understood that abundance is a consciousness, a mentality and a state of being -- something that originates within. The challenge was that I was not putting this consciousness into action on a day-to-day basis. I understood it and I talked about it, but I didn't act on it nearly enough. So I decided to do something about it.
If I was going to show the universe that I truly believed that abundance was within me and around me, then I needed to act as if I already had all I that desired. If I wanted financial freedom, I would act as if I already had it. If I wanted a busier schedule with more speaking opportunities, I would act as if they had already arrived.
Every day I checked in with myself and examined how I was acting. Was I acting from always having more than enough, or was I questioning what I had and looking for more? The more aware I became, the more empowered I felt and the more I acted from that energy of abundance, the more abundance began flowing into my life consistently as a result.
Everything we desire and long for is already within us and a part of our consciousness; we just need to act from that energy to unleash the flow. Each action you take will start to reprogram your attitude. And your attitude creates your reality! The more you send the universe a message of being abundant -- not just wanting it -- the more abundance you will see show up in your life!
Take Action Challenge:
For the next 30 days: Take all of your wants and desires and start acting from the belief that you already have them. Start with one desire and one corresponding action per day and slowly build up from there. The more you act from that abundance consciousness, the more abundance you will see flow into your life.
