I'm thrilled to introduce you to Anita Shepherd, creator of Anita's Creamline Coconut Yogurt. Having just moved to NYC, I'm taking full advantage of the fantastic niche food options available here. I had read about Anita's yogurt but only recently had the pleasure of experiencing it. The next day I bought a whole case of it. So good!

What's more, the self-proclaimed "Yogurt Frankenstein" has brought into being a vegan yogurt that is both scrumptious & healthy. Aside from the insanely delicious, satisfying taste and supremely creamy mouth-feel, I love how its cultures support the good bacteria in my gut. It's a win-win-win! Will need a direct pipeline from Anita's facility to my fridge.

I love a good hero's journey, and Anita's returned from the voyage to share her knowledge: industry experts would tell her that yogurt couldn't be made without thickeners and additives. And yet Anita managed to create an exceptional product from only three ingredients: coconut milk, coconut water, and live cultures. Talk about redefining the status quo. It's a joy to feature Anita on Gratitude Speaks; let's hear what she has to say:

1) How do you define gratitude, and what are you grateful for?
Gratitude is pausing for a moment to be thankful for all you have been given. And to recognize others for what they have given you - this could be as grand as throwing a party, or as small as closing your eyes and thinking of them.

I often take those moments when someone has helped me.

2) What is art to you?
Art can be anything. But the best art is something that reminds the observer of something inside themselves. They will identify with it and accept it as their own.

3) When did you experience significant personal growth, and how did it impact your perspective on life?
Living in NYC it is easy to get swept up in our personal dramas and struggles. So one of my favorite times to be here is upon returning from a trip away. I can approach daily life with fresh eyes. I will look at the approaching skyline from afar and think "Hey, this place is not so big and scary." And therefore, my challenges are suddenly not so big and scary.

4) What other gems of joy & wisdom would you like to share with us?
I am expecting a daughter in a few weeks and this brings me so much joy that it catches me off guard at times! I am definitely grateful for her and all the momentum that expecting a kid has given me to push my business ahead so that I can make her proud.
