Since 1993, Modiba's friends over at Putumayo have been on a mission to expose people to the beautiful and eclectic music that the world's cultures have to offer. Now, Putumayo's reach has expanded beyond their highly successful compilation CDs to their brand new blog. The blog will continue to reflect Putumayo's mission to introduce people to music from all over the world through the discussion of various aspects of world music. In the kickoff post, DJ Spooky, Lila Downs, and Herbie Treehead discuss the universal appeal of the genre of "children's music", and explore what it is exactly about the genre that has contributed to its surprisingly rapid growth of interest in the global market.
