A Consciousness Revolution

We have always had the power to make our government reach its highest potential; & trust me, it goes a lot further than the hand outs & bail outs they use to keep us quiet. What will you read? Who will you reach out to? What will you learn? What will you do? Share with us!

-Imagine a country where people walk freely into a room & vote for all kinds of elected officials.
-Imagine a country where those elected officials then go do what is expected of them.
-Imagine a country where if they don't, we elect someone who will.
-Imagine a country where you can freely call, email, or walk into an elected official's office to discuss an issue or idea you have on a topic they're handling.
-Imagine a country where you can run for these positions yourself, if that's the calling you hear.
-Imagine a country where the elected officials know they will be held accountable BY the people, because they work FOR the people, answer TO the people, and the people will not tolerate abuse of power. The people will not sit idly by; they will demand action be taken against corrupt officials and new ones instated. Ones who love our country, love their jobs, and love their people.

Now open your eyes & realize: we have all that. Where we're lacking, is the people. Yes, many officials have failed us. Yes, you will always have bad seeds mixed in with good ones, but we have the power to throw them out and put a good seed right back in their place. We always have.

Our government is so out of control because the people are not doing their part. We turn a blind eye, we harden our hearts, and we block it out because we don't want to deal with the despair or anger. We want someone else to handle the problems for us, so we can just shake our heads and say "it's politicians in general."

Not true! People are too lazy to learn about the positions, learn about the candidates, have expectations for the role itself & the person they want to vote for. They're too lazy to stay caught up on what is happening around them, so when greedy, corrupt officials sneak in, rather than yell "Swiper, no swiping!" and toss them out, we post a snarky (often moronic) Facebook comment and carry on. We are letting the rotten ones stay right where they want without making room for the ones who truly want to serve!

Let's take me for an example: I love politics. To a fault. I thrive off holding a conversation about every thing running incompetently in our country right now, brainstorming ways to fix it, and love hearing others' ideas as well. Most people spend their whole lives trying to avoid talking politics and religion, yet I force my poor husband to have these conversations daily. I love our country: not for what it is, but for what it can be; for the potential that has always been there. I love the Constitution; it is still a great, relevant document and that document alone is the Supreme Law of Our Land. Not some President's executive order; toss him & all his executive orders out on his ass & let someone who wants to build from the RIGHT, SOLID, CONSTITUTIONAL FOUNDATION get voted in. No one is above the law. There's a reason we need laws, rules, & order. Anyone who likes to dance on the fence will always argue we don't, but we do. That's another post for another day.

The point is: I want nothing more than to be in an elected official position. My love, my passion, my desire to never stop learning & getting things right, would drive me to over-achieve. I want to make a difference, make the changes necessary, & get us where we need to be. Yes, it's cliche as all get out, but there's not really a simpler way to put it. I'm not the only one; there are others out there who also constantly think of the day we get to actually be part of the solution!

Apathy is a lack of emotion, interest, or concern. It's a gimmick in today's society because its fake, a cop-out. How many stories do you skim over every day when it comes to politics, drug dealers & thieves in your neighborhood? Neglect causing the death of a child, child pornography, meth labs, etc. and you don't even bother to read them because you know it will make your blood boil. The media strives to sensationalize. They have to lure you in to read what they write, or they don't get a paycheck. So many stories only present the bad, and rather than react, we just shut it all out.

Insert a Consciousness Revolution: Not the kind that brings on hate, war, and anarchy; but one of awareness & intentional actions. It may be far-fetched, but bring back common sense & taking ownership of your own life choices. Marianne Williamson has a great video where she presents her ideas on one such consciousness revolution. It is 3 minutes well spent.

We need to take back our government by reading, researching, learning, & being active both in our local communities and in our country, on a whole. As Marianne says, "break out of the box we are in & become who we should be."

Remember: this is not about who can cuss & scream the loudest, who can create the most destruction, who can point the finger & place the blame, or who can rip the most off from others. This is about standing together & uniting- exactly what the corrupt & our enemies DON'T want us to do.

We have always had the power to make our government reach its highest potential; & trust me, it goes a lot further than the hand outs & bail outs they use to keep us quiet.
