In honor of International Women's Day on Sunday, I share America's Cricket Couple -- the story of a woman cricketer, her husband, and how playing cricket together impacts their lives. The video focuses on one couple but it represents a celebration of all the accomplishments of women athletes and promotes gender equity.
The story is the sole video of Hacking Cricket Culture -- an article series which will feature inspirational stories of women cricketers through the eyes of fathers, husbands, sons and brothers who consider the women cricketers in their lives to be heroes. For some of these men, they began to appreciate women playing cricket when they discovered, through their loved ones, that love for and ability to play cricket could not be defined by gender. By sharing their stories, we hope that they will help others to hack their own culture -- getting to the source of the culture that opposes women playing sports and re-program their system to embrace women athletes.
