5 Celebrity Lessons From 2011

Posted: 12/29/11 03:36 PM ET

Parenting is rarely easy, but every now and then celebrities step in and help us out. Their good and bad behaviors provide valuable teaching moments that often confirm the lessons we've been trying to teach our kids since day one.

This year, Hollywood and the media handed parents everywhere more material for their "I told you so" conversations. Here's a recap...

1. Charlie Sheen's Shenanigans
The Lesson: The definition of "winning" is "losing" when it's fueled by bad behavior and delusions of grandeur.

2. Pippa Middleton's Royal Rise

The Lesson: You don't have to be a princess to be noticed.

3. Kim Kardashian's Dash to Divorce
The Lesson: Marriage is reality, not a reality show.

4. Arnold Schwarzenegger's Ready Maid Disaster
The Lesson: Dishonesty can destroy relationships. Perfect families are rarely perfect.

5. Alec Baldwin's Just Plane Bad Behavior
The Lesson: When an authority figure tells you to turn off your electronics, turn off your electronics.

What were your 2011 teaching moments?
