Gay Marriage Protestors Crowd the Steps of CA Supreme Court

digg Share this on Facebook Huffpost - stumble reddit del.ico.us RSS

On Thursday, the California Supreme Court heard arguments for three cases filed in relation to Proposition 8. According to the California Courts Web site, they are:

1) Is Proposition 8 invalid because it constitutes a revision of, rather than an amendment to, the California Constitution?
(2) Does Proposition 8 violate the separation of powers doctrine under the California Constitution?
(3) If Proposition 8 is not unconstitutional, what is its effect, if any, on the marriages of same-sex couples performed before the adoption of Proposition 8?

Watch the oral arguments here.

See a brief video on the protests outside the courthouse below:

I have a feeling that Prop 8 will stand, however, I also think that the 18,000 marriages performed prior to its passing will remain valid, as they should.

No matter what happens, count me in on supporting marriage equality until it is law.
