My Daily Vibe: Be Present -- Here and Now

In order to live in the moment, you need to focus on the present. It means being here, completely here, right this moment. It means that this moment is all there is. There is no tomorrow or even a yesterday. Now is all that exists.

Harnessing the power of here and now requires awareness. When we are practicing awareness or being fully present, our minds do not wander. We are focused on what is going on right now, rather than thinking about what just happened or worrying about what is going to happen next. Being present lets us experience each moment in our lives in a way that cannot be fully lived through memory or fantasy.

When you become present and let go of resisting what is, you will feel a level of peace, love, and contentment that can only be described as timeless. Being present -- here and now -- your mind is at rest, at ease, it has nowhere to go and nothing to do. This nothingness, this stillness, allows for the experience of your natural state, your soul, and that is why being present is so powerful.

As you move through your day, remember to stay present in each moment. In doing so, you will live your life without having to wait for the future or yearn for the past. It means being grounded, assimilating the experiences of your day -- moment to moment -- enjoying your food, your friends and family, etc. Even things you consider boring and useless and frustrating about your day will transform. The more you practice awareness or being in the present the more life becomes richer in meaning and fuller in experience.
