1. Sit a Restaurant Challenge!

This is a really good way to determine whether or not you're cut out for the sport as some people's bodies simply will not let them eat crazy amounts of food. I believe competitive eaters are born with a certain predisposition to be good at what they do and of course you need to train your butt (or should I say stomach) off as well but overall you're either good at it or you're not. There are plenty of restaurants around who offer these challenges so Google eating challenges in your area and give it a go!

2. Find a YouTube Challenge and Film Yourself Attempting it!

There are plenty of competitive eaters out there who take part in online YouTube eating challenges so find one you're interested in doing and try it out! My first challenge was a 1 kg (2.2 lb.) Burrito which I ate in under two minutes. Another one of my favorite challenges to film was the 5 ft. Subway Footlong Challenge which was originally started by 1st ranked Major League Eater and 1st ranked in my heart, Matt Stonie.

You could even approach another competitive eater and create a collaboration video where you attempt the same challenge. This is a good way to build friendships within the eating community and your fan base!

3. Practice! Practice! Practice!

Yes I said previously that I believe competitive eaters are born this way but that doesn't mean you don't need to practice! Without practicing often, eaters will allow their stomachs to shrink and that's not good when you're trying to fit epic amounts of food into your body!

4. Get in the Best Shape Possible!

If you're going to become a competitive eater then you need to stay fit! Let's say a contest is 10 minutes long and you get tired by the 2nd minute, you've basically just destroyed your chances of winning because there will be fitter eaters keeping up their speed and endurance!

5. Compete in a Professional Eating Contest!

Last but certainly not least, if you want to become a professional competitive eater you will need to compete in professional contests. Organizations like Major League Eating hold events all year round so check out their website for competitions in your area and get in contact with them!

Good luck and remember to stay safe! Never attempt a challenge without having someone else around to help you if you need it. Like any other sport, competitive eating can be dangerous if you don't know what you're doing!
