Requiescat in Pace

Steve Gilliard's zest for life and for good cooking will be missed as much as his no-holds-barred verbal assaults on hypocrisy, stupidity and mindless cruelty.

Just heard the news that Steve Gilliard has passed after a lengthy battle with ailments only vaguely alluded to by his fellow posters at The News Blog, one of my earliest "finds" in the big wonderful world of the blogosphere, and a daily must-visit. We never met, but Mr. Gilliard was always good for an insight, an opinion, a story too often overlooked by the "big boys," and an outlook and appreciation of the madness of life in New York. His zest for life and for good cooking will be missed as much as his no-holds-barred verbal assaults on hypocrisy, stupidity and mindless cruelty.

Our hearts, prayers and wishes go out to Jen and to Mr. Gilliard's family. There is a hole in the blogosphere.
