When Bruce Jenner came out as transgender, it made me think about boomers coming out of whatever closet they've spent much of their lives in. Whether transgender, gay or lesbian, as a straight, male boomer I wanted to understand their experience, to know how it feels for someone to come out late in life.
My partner Sarah has asked me on several occasions in the past few years why I didn't play music in my home. Hammered by the Great Recession, reduced pension plans, rising healthcare costs, corporate downsizing, as well as by ageism and reduced opportunities for employment, boomers are going to be increasingly squeezed financially.
