Not so fast, BP. The oil company is running TV ads trumpeting that the Gulf Coast is well on its way to recovery from the Deepwater Horizon oil spill. Whitewashing the situation may actually slow the progress towards recovery.

Obama's State of the Union promise to open more offshore oil and gas fields and support natural gas development lacks one ingredient if the public is to receive the full economic benefits.
