The excitement of an 8-year-old going to a sparkling, high energy, university campus is a remarkable sight. Some of the kids in attendance have never thought of college as an option, some didn't believe they'd ever have access to cutting edge technology, and some of the girls thought tech was only for the boys.
The U.S. Air Force is auctioning off six recreational cabins in the Kenai Peninsula community of Seward, and they could be a steal. The minimum bid starts at $25, but the winning bidders must commit to having the 32-by-32-foot duplex cabins -- containing two identical living areas -- moved from their current location by May 15.
The atmosphere can be simultaneously congenial and competitive, intimate and exclusionary. In a space the size of typical two-car garage, a variety of personality types are thrust together, forced to navigate an often-complicated jumble of events and emotions.
