fetal heartbeat bill

The Democratic governor is the latest to sign a "fetal heartbeat" bill.
The so-called fetal heartbeat bill now goes to Democratic Gov. John Bel Edwards for his signature.
Republican Gov. Mike DeWine is expected to sign the bill, which would effectively ban abortion at about six weeks.
Gov. Brian Kemp is expected to sign a bill giving Georgia one of the most restrictive abortion laws in the country.
The bill would outlaw abortions after a fetal heartbeat is detected, typically about six weeks into a pregnancy.
If bill becomes law, it would allow only about 6 weeks to obtain a legal abortion in the state, often before a woman knows she's pregnant.
