If we're the generation that loses our republic, the epitaph should read: "American Republic, Killed by the Internet and Cable TV." Our political debates reflect little interest in facts and nuanced discussion -- soundbites reign supreme.
Not only does Fox News not fret over its many detractors, it generally welcomes the outrage as an opportunity to once again let its pit-bullish media relations department off the chain to maul the crap out of the poor sap with the bad sense to hassle its master.
Why would Mr. Trump do this? Why would he carelessly extend a wildly unpopular theory amongst researchers to a public that may not be aware of the actual science and decade-plus amount of work that have gone into discrediting the link between vaccines and autism?
