The Heritage Foundation report alarms that it will cost taxpayers $6.3 trillion net dollars if we permit legalization of presently undocumented immigrants. It is a lot of money -- almost 42 percent of the U.S. GDP in 2012 -- so it sounds scary.
In recent months, a striking array of people have called attention to the often-forgotten ability of the president to shorten sentences and pardon convictions. It's no wonder: There is a crisis of over-incarceration in this country, and the pardon power is an obvious way to address it.
There are, according to Jim DeMint, "69.5 million Americans are dependent" on government. But, he is off by one. He "forgot" to include himself. He needs to make that number "sixty-nine million, five-hundred thousand and one."
