Summer in America is the coldest time of the year. Women in particular suffer from the chill that pervades the land. For me, this is a season of goosebumps, blue fingers and toes, and chattering teeth.
This past weekend wasn't just the unofficial start of summer; it's the official start of Pride season. In the coming month the sunlight will not only stay out longer but cities will start flying the rainbow flag to celebrate their LGBT communities.
You can say, and even believe, that the U.S. has the best health care system in the world if, as I did for many years, you associate only with other folks who share the same world view as you do and if you watch, read and listen to the media that reinforce your preconceived notions.
Three Tennessee towns now recognize same-sex couples. In a landmark decision for the so-called "buckle" of the Bible Belt, Chattanooga joined Knoxville and Collegedale with a city council vote recognizing same-sex spouses of city employees for benefits.
Here in Tennessee uncertainty and debate reign supreme as the state aims to break early voting records unsure of how much an impact it will have in playing a role in deciding the fate of the United States of America.
