Miss Colorado, I could recite endless ways your profession has helped me, and I applaud you for being the voice of your profession and for bringing it to a national platform. I hope that it is a major step in the right direction to remove the word "just" whenever anyone is speaking of being a nurse.
I had the pleasure of chatting with Ali Wallace, currently Miss Oregon. Early September she will head to Atlantic City to compete in the Miss America Pageant. Ali is a beautiful, smart, young woman who also happens to have an invisible injury that she struggles with every day -- a traumatic brain injury (TBI).
Despite wearing a tiara and traveling across the nation for a year promoting their causes, they have emotions like the rest of us. Some are liberal, others are conservative, middle of the road, deeply political, apolitical etc... She should not be expected to harbor a particular ideology or to solely represent just one segment of the population.
