On Saturday May 30, 2015 I photographed the mondo-chic attendees of The Museum of Contemporary Art, Los Angeles 36th Annual Gala as they arrived at The Geffen Contemporary at MOCA in Downtown Los Angeles' Little Tokyo.
With taut strings tied into thousands of knots holding painted and translucent sheets of paper, the artist binds the aerial and the earthbound, establishing a direct relationship between the work and the viewer.
You must be getting a lot of well-meaning advice right now, and I hope you won't mind if I offer you a few tips to aid you in your success. My advice is meant both to be helpful, but also to make you smile.
From Paris to Los Angeles, it is surprising that dinner conversation in the art world shifts its focus from the museum to the museum director. Jeffrey Deitch disappeared as the conversation centerpiece as all talk is about the new director, Philippe Vergne, who will save MOCA.
