There's no reason for the US to swallow a trade deal filled with rotten rodent terms. American workers know for sure that if the scheme contains any foie gras, it'll be served on silver platters to corporations while workers are force-fed rats. America should withdraw. Congress should reject the TPP.
While Berkeley is more progressive than many places in the U.S, it is clear that the culture of large-scale student activism has changed. Many claim the youth of today are apathetic. Others say they just engage in different ways. It may also be that exorbitant college fees play a large part in taking the radical edge out of the student population.
The majority of Americans want the minimum wage raised, unemployment insurance extended, Social Security protected, and infrastructure like highways improved, but that's not what Congress is doing. Instead, it is slashing the budget in ways that the majority hates, including cutting food stamps and preserving tax breaks for corporations.
