The Children isn't the most violent film, nor the goriest or showiest. It haunts because it boils itself down to an unanswerable question: would you kill your own sick children to prevent them from killing you?
The acquisition of 5,000 often violent, occasionally sexualized comic book characters just makes Disney an even easier target for Focus on the Family. We'll see if Disney reacts to inevitable cheap shots.
Due to the fact that the top two films (Ice Age: Dawn of the Dinosaurs and Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen) are literally tied at $42.5 million, I'm ignoring the rankings and just concentrating on the numbers.
