But as the sordid details of the economic meltdown are revealed, it's clear that Gordon Gekko has nothing on the real corporate supervillains walking freely among us today.

Donald Trump thought he'd made the words "You're Fired" so cool he tried to trademark them. But being the one on the other side of the desk can have its perils.
Carrie Prejean made her comments while holding the title of Miss California. California is a state that keeps voting for Proposition 8. So really, everyone is criticizing her for doing her job and worse, for being a Californian.
We have obtained exclusive footage of Carrie talking about that very subject with News Corp. CEO Rupert Murdoch. Take a look.
Last night Seth Myers hosted the 13th Annual Webby Awards at the Wall Street Cipriani, a location that symbolized one more example of how new media is...
Lots of memorable moments at this year's Webby Awards. It was great having some of our HuffPost Politics team make the trip up from DC to celebrate our wins as Best Politics Site and Best Political Blog. I particularly enjoyed the way the organizers of the event paired people from the new media with people from the traditional media -- concluding with Martha Stewart presenting the Breakout of the Year award to Twitter cofounder Biz Stone (his five word acceptance speech: "Creativity is a renewable resource"). As for my five-word speech, I ended up going with: "I didn't kill newspapers...okay?" READ MORE I'll be guest hosting CNBC's Squawk Box Wednesday morning 7-9 am EDT, and will be interviewing Nassim Taleb, Jim Grant, and Rep. Paul Ryan (R-Wis). I'd love to have your help deciding what to ask them. Please post your suggested questions in the comments section.
Here's how to plan your own do-it-yourself version of a big celebrity party -- for a fraction of the cost.

In 2007, Cynthia Stafford won $120 million with her father and older brother. You know all those stories about folks who hit Lotto only to have t...
This week, I spent a couple of great days at Walt Mossberg and Kara Swisher's annual D: All Things Digital conference. Among the highlights: watching Jill Sobule sing about Rupert Murdoch -- in front of Rupert Murdoch, and Facebook's Sheryl Sandberg levitate around the conference after securing a $200 million investment from the Russians. The breakout star was new Yahoo! CEO Carol Bartz -- and not just because of her perfectly timed F-bomb on the D7 stage. She was a quote machine: "Down 15 percent is the new flat" and "You can't take nine women and make a baby in one month; there is a process" were among my favorites. But the line of the week came from Martha Stewart who told me over lunch: "While Bernie Madoff was on his rampage, the SEC was busy pursuing me." For more on the conference, click here.
"I just wasn't paying attention." "It never even occurred to me to mention it." What do these two statements have in common? They were both uttered ...
The top 400 billionaires are sitting on a huge pile of money, while our country is going deeply into debt to fix a financial system that has contributed mightily to their enrichment.
I read in a magazine someplace that you were interested in saving the New York Times. I think it's a terrific idea. I have one other idea for you.
If President Obama truly wants to deal with our mess of a health care system, perhaps somebody should read June 8 Forbes and its concise dissection of our "test madness," namely endless and fear-ridden search for illness.
During that long, lonely summer between high school and college, I was completely devastated after getting dumped by my high-school sweetheart. (It tu...
The nature of Timothy O'Brien's alleged defamation? He accuses Trump of being poor. It's just one guy's set of numbers as against another guy's set of numbers. Is it anything to sue about?
We know you thrive on breaking news and our story is being suppressed, by evil banksters and their cronies, who would rather go bankrupt than confess.
The two billionaires speak now a few times a week. Often, they check in with each other every day. And Murdoch and Geffen may be the last men in America still interested in newspapers.
Media mogul David Geffen is seriously interested in purchasing a large stake in The New York Times Company. Rumors of Geffen's interest have increas...

One would think that a billionaire may have read a newspaper and noticed there are people who could use a few bucks to get vaccinations for their kids. Or maybe that's just me.
That's sort of crazy sick
oh boy
As rich as this guy is, you would think he could afford a more attractive design... seriously, that is one really fugly building!
Just goes to show you, money can't buy good taste, nosir.
Hmm, I think this is the fellow who's father amassed a huge fortune in ruthless (but clever, certainly) ways by getting around the system in India. The recent film "Guru," is based on his father's life & climb up the ladder of success. You see, in India, it's not at all uncommon to find praise bestowed upon the highly ambitious, smart village boy who is able to get out of such conditions & make his fortune ... even if it involves manipulating the system, so-to-speak. It is not a work ideology that I am comfortable with ... yet, it's not the fault of the architectural firm he's employed to do his over-the-top new home.

I think Ambani could've used his vast riches a little more wisely ... esp. considering the immense poverty in India! But at least, he picked a fine architectural firm in Chicago (Perkins & Will) to do the creative designs.
