North Korea's missile tests were in response to recent naval drills between U.S. and South Korean forces, state media reported.
The launch came hours after the United States and South Korea wrapped up two days of naval drills off the Korean Peninsula’s east coast.
Lee Ki Sik, commissioner of the Military Manpower Administration, said it’s “desirable” for BTS members to fulfill military duties to ensure fairness.
The launches suggest North Korean leader Kim Jong Un is determined to continue with weapons tests aimed at boosting his nuclear arsenal.
The U.S. said it strongly condemns North Korea’s “dangerous and reckless decision” to launch what it described as a “long-range ballistic missile” over Japan.
South Korean President Yoon Suk Yeol warned of an “overwhelming response” from South Korean and U.S. militaries should nuclear weapons be used.
