Fifteen years since the release of Toy Story, Pixar has made it very clear that they would like to be considered a movie studio in the classic sense: their films all seem to illustrate a singular creative perspective.
Up it is a gloriously beautiful adventure film that will likely remain the finest film of 2009. While the film is basically about death and the fragility of life, it is every bit as funny and exciting as any other Pixar film.
Up is released May 29th and it's bound to be a hit. It rips your heart out, stomps on it, and then makes you laugh so hard your eyeliner will run. My good buddy George Roush and I did a video review of the film at the dog run in Griffith Park.
