The Progressive Republican Party of Teddy Roosevelt and Abraham Lincoln is long dead and buried. For the past 40 years, their crude replacements have conducted an unrelenting assault on our nation's democracy, values, humanity and rights.
These parties tend to devolve into a legal extortion system -- demanding patronage or financial support from the Democratic and GOP nominees in return for giving them a second, or third, or fourth line on the ballot.
For the record, I was never contacted directly by anyone with the Working Families Party about running for Governor of New York. But my passion for politics is as important to me as it's ever been. New York needs strong leadership.
Employers must seriously consider the deficiencies in today's workforce and begin to develop solutions to better improve our educational system, create new incentives to attract tomorrow's workers, and stay competitive in a global marketplace.
The Working Families Party wants New York to believe that it can make or break a Democrat running in a tough primary, and that therefore everybody had better treat their issues, and opinions, with extreme respect.
