"RuPaul's DragCon is the place to find your tribe," said RuPaul. "For all the super creative and super sensitive people out there who live in a world that says that you're too much or that you don't t fit in, DragCon says 'Welcome home, baby.'"

This photo, taken at RuPaul's DragCon 2016, certainly paints a thousand words, as the saying goes -- especially with the national controversy about who pees where.

RuPaul's DragCon is the place to find your tribe," said RuPaul. "For all the super creative and super sensitive people out there who live in a world that says that you're too much or that you don't t fit in, DragCon says 'Welcome home, baby.'

The above sentiment proved true as recounted by person after person in this comprehensive PromoHomo.TV coverage of RuPaul's DragCon 2016.

Organizers explain:

RuPaul's DragCon provides a platform for fans -- of all ages and backgrounds -- to meet and interact with world-renowned celebrities and icons in a friendly and accessible environment.

In addition to booths on the convention floor, there was a wide range of programming, including Q&A sessions with drag stars and icons, lip sync contests, drag herstory discussion groups, and fashion, make-up and styling work shops, for men and women.

RuPaul adds:

You do not want to miss this party, honey.

I didn't and now you don't have to either, as I bring you almost three hours of the convention as originally broadcast via Facebook Live.

Julian, pictured above in this video still from PromoHomo.TV, lives in Seattle and attended RuPaul's DragCon 2016 with his mom. They both grant powerful interviews at 06:48 in this video.

What fascinated me the most is the women dressed as men in drag (03:20 in the video):

As Wikipedia explains:

A faux queen or bio queen is a female performance artist who adopts the style typical of male drag queens. A faux queen may be jocularly described as "a drag queen trapped in a woman's body." Other descriptions include "biologically-challenged" drag queen, "female female impersonator," or "female impersonator impersonator" Like traditional drag queens and drag kings, faux queens play with traditional gender roles and gender norms to educate and entertain. Faux queens can appear alongside drag kings at lesbian drag shows and are interchangeable with "regular" (assigned male at birth) drag queens as emcees, performers, hostesses, and spokesmodels.

The most-named "Favorite Queen" by attendees is Kimchi, so I tracked her down as well (see 01:54:00):

LogoTV.com exlains:

This Korean drag queen is not only a cultural first for RuPaul's Drag Race; she's also the first Korean drag queen ever to be on television. With her formidable makeup skills and over-the-top anime drag, it doesn't look like she will disappoint in her ambassadorial duties for Korea. Not bad for a queen named after pickled cabbage.

At 38 minutes into the video, RuPaul delights a mob of screaming fans at the ribbon cutting. Experience the crowd from the perspective of RuPaul himself! You'd think we were on the red carpet at the Academy Awards!
