Yigal Azrouel Spring 2011 Show: Pretty Parade (PHOTOS, POLL)

We can't say if it's Mr. Azrouel's form-fitting frocks that drew such a glamorous crowd, or the fact that he's fashion's most eligible bachelor.

Yesterday 10th Avenue was aflutter with long-legged beauties flaunting the shortest hems and highest heels flocking to Yigal Azrouel's Spring 2011 show--and we're not talking about the models. Sitting pretty front row was Mumblecore muse Greta Gerwig clad in a short motorcross jacket and grey mini, Vogue editor Virginia Smith and society column regular Zani Gugelman. We can't say if it's Mr. Azrouel's form-fitting frocks that drew such a glamorous crowd, or the fact that he's fashion's most eligible bachelor. (Good-looking, talented and straight--oh my!)

Backstage, Mr. Azrouel was calm and collected as he told us what he loves in a woman. "The woman I design for is strong and independent," he described. He also credited the late photographer Irving Penn's iconic photographs as inspiration for the collection.

As for the clothes, they were what the Israeli designer does best--sleek silhouettes with plenty of wearable separates including wide-legged silk trousers, georgette-sleeved blouses, and structured jackets in a refreshingly muted palette of nudes, peaches and citrus notes. But the show stealer was undoubtedly his new line of shoes and handbags, which featured unique shapes like cone heels with color-blocking and strong architectural elements that proved Mr. Azrouel doesn't always play it safe.
