Hey, HuffPosters, my sister Delia and I have written a play. It's called "Love, Loss and What I Wore" and it's based on the best-selling book by Ilene Beckerman, as well as on the stories of our friends and friends of friends. It's a series of pieces performed by five wonderful actresses, all about clothes we've loved and the memories they trigger: the powder blue strapless prom dress, the nightmare of the bra saleslady, the tragedy of the purse, our mothers, our mothers, our mothers and more. We're workshopping it in New York for six Monday nights, February 2, 9, 16, 23 and March 2, 9. It's a benefit for Dress for Success, at the DR2 Theater on E. 15th Street, and among the actresses taking part (there are five each night) are Joy Behar, Tyne Daly, Blythe Danner, Julie White, America Ferrara, Samantha Bee, Parker Posey, Sarah Jones, Rosie O'Donnell, Marlo Thomas, Casey Wilson, Debi Mazur, Marian Seldes, Kathy Najimy and others...It's sort of "The Vagina Monologues" but without the vaginas.
If you would like to come see it, go to www.LoveLossthebenefit.com for tickets, or call Telecharge at 212-239-6200. The show starts at 8. Tickets are $50 (for a great cause).

hello nora,
i didn't imagine that i could find you out so in the public eye. great stuff! i am from the uk and we love your movies. nice to see you are current (as in not faded or hidden away). we (my 5 children and i) currently have a fettish for 'you've got mail'. great family movie; shall go in search of other things by you. anyway just a quick note to say thank you. your movies have provided many hours of a comfort zone that all is not lost at times. has kept us from getting too hard and not cynical about love and life.
Nora, I wish I could be there to see it. There is nothing that you have done that I did not like. If there was one thing I could do in this lifetime, it would be to work with you. I have been a fan for many years and I constantly look for more of your work.
I guess I'm the only nay sayer here but this sounds like boring tripe to me. A play about women's clothes? Really? Can you imagine a play about men's clothes? To me this is a sign that women are still objectified in our culture, even by those who pretend to be arty and intellectual. To be clear, I love strong women. I love them as friends, lovers, and otherwise. But most of the women I know wear slacks most of the time and if they were going to do a play about their lives clothes wouldn't be a major theme.

Honored to just be on the same page with you.
Chicklit, Chickflicks, Chickschtick (see: Joan Rivers) and now Chick....what?
I'll miss the talking vags, but sometimes art is all about sacrifice.
Waxing poetic about dresses?
(I think I just threw up a little in my mouth.)
Break a leg!
Love you Nora! Wish I could make it, but I live in Southern California. I'm sure the play will be absolutely brilliant!
". . . without the vaginas." Why? What do you have against vaginas? I mean, some of my best friends . . .
Really! Bring on the VaJayJay's! Today!
aw nuts. wish i was in NY!!!!
Wow - you've got quite the lineup of actresses!!!
That sounds like a great piece! I'm a theatre director out in Sacramento and would love to direct it out here. Beyond the Proscenium Productions is a small, non profit theatre company that I founded back in 94. Any chance you could send me a script after the workshop readings?
Fabulous! Any chance you'll bring it to London?
That sounds like something my ex would really get into, and I haven't seen anything like that since "Uncommon Women and Others." Interesting premise, Nora, I wish you all the best and hope it sells out fast. Peace always
Crap. All the fun stuff happens in NY. Think about videotaping it and selling the DVD to support the charity. I'd buy one.
I too, remember picking this book up when I was in Williamsburg, VA many years ago. A small, wonderful book with much to say!
I have long loved you from afar, I will laugh over this title for days.
You made my stupid day. Thanks
