Roadkill: OffTheBus's Ongoing RoundUp of the Awkward, the Ugly, and the Just Plain Weird

Fred Thompson's lost luck. Rudy Giuliani forgets New York. Rob Reiner does the predictable... a movie about Hillary Clinton.

The following piece was produced through the Huffington Post's OffTheBus. Edited by Richard Riehl and Denise Wheeler. Reported by Kirsten Anderson, River Curtis-Stanley, Jodi Lampert, Julie Pierce, and Debbi Plummer.

Tancredo the Geographer: Ted's solution to grumpy Texas mayors who won't play Border Wall Ball? Build the wall further north!

The only thing worse than bad luck is no luck at all: Fred Thompson's South Carolina staff is moving into the old office of Democrat, U.S. House Majority Whip Jim Clyburn. "I wish him the best, Clyburn said. But "he should know, I packed up all the good luck and brought it with me to the new office."

Strike two for Huck: First a poor fundraising quarter for the Huckabee campaign, and now a hoax email claiming Huck's campaign chairman in Iowa is leaving to support money-man Romney. "I'm not leaving my guy any time," Bob Vander Plaats said. "This campaign is way more about message than money." They may want to get that message to all the supporters invited to today's press conference for Vander Plaats official "hoax" announcement.

Here's something Rudy would rather not recall: Back in New Hampshire a man asked Rudy why he had made NYC a sanctuary for illegal aliens. "You must be talking about another candidate," Rudy said, and argued that as mayor he had to make sure all kids went to school, that everyone needed access to hospitals and that illegal immigrants needed to be able to inform the police about crimes without fear of deportation. "That's why you're wrong," said Rudy. "As mayor of NYC, if I was nothing else, I was rational and sensible." The illegal immigrants no doubt agreed.

It's nice to be liked: The Dodders posted a blog entry from a volunteer who recently worked a phone bank calling Iowans about a Dodd event. He was very enthusiastic, saying that, "There were obviously some people who had already decided on another candidate (strangely, only Edwards, no Clinton or Obama), but even those people generally said that they were impressed with Dodd and his message." That's great news! Well, except for the "already decided on another candidate part..."

Now playing in Hillaryland: Rob Reiner has done what any other Hollywood actor-director-turned political showman would do for a star-struck candidate. He made a movie. With him in the lead of course, and a few of Hillary's more camera worthy volunteers. But be one of the first to watch it here. Ballots no doubt will be coming next for the Best of the Political Endorsement Awards.
