WHAT: Press conference call to discuss Senator Barack Obama's appearance at the 79th annual League of United Latin American Citizens
WHEN: Tuesday, July 8 at 3:00 p.m. EDT
SUMMARY
Congressman Lincoln Diaz-Balart (R-FL) discussed Senator Barack Obama's appearance at the 79th annual League of United Latin American Citizens, and how he expects Senator John McCain and Sen. Obama to fare with Hispanic voters. Rep. Diaz-Balart said Obama has "a steep hill to climb with the Hispanic community." He claimed Obama's plan to increase taxes is of concern to a growing number of Hispanic small business owners. Rep. Diaz-Balart also cited Obama's opposition to Colombia and Panama free trade agreements as an important issue for Hispanic voters - particularly those with ties to those countries - and accused Obama of being largely uninvolved in passing immigration legislation.
