I'm Not Joan

It was recently brought to my attention that some people are mistaking my voice for that of a McCain supporter. Apparently, there is a woman, only known to the world as "Joan," who provides the voice for a McCain attack ad entitled "Painful." Her voice sounds a lot like mine. (I happen to think my voice is a little more resonant, but that's beside the point.) Let me assure the American people the voice in that ad is not my voice. My voice has been busy cheering loudly for one Senator Barack Obama.

This is my attempt to clear up any confusion and to avoid strange stares at dinner parties. I am Patricia Clarkson and I approved this message.

Love Patricia Clarkson and delighted to know that she's an Obama fan. Glad
she cleared that up. I have to admit I think less of actors who are McCain
supporters.

Thanks for clarifying for us. We know you're too intelligent for that voice.

So enjoy your fine work on screen -- especially in High Art. Amazing performance.

Ms. Clarkson,

I've been a huge fan since I first saw you in the Untouchables and loooooved Six Feet Under. God I miss that series.

Anyhow, I knew that wasn't your voice, you are right...."Joan's" voice isn't nearly as resonant. Gkad you are raising yours for Barack.

Ms Clarkson

Your speaking voice is silky smooth;
Your acting skills take my breath away;
Your choice of Presidential candidates, priceless!

Thank you for posting here and clarifying what was probably really annoying to you!

Ms. Clarkson,

I never for a moment would ever imagine you are a McCain supporter.

A brilliant actor? Surely.

A beautiful woman? Certainly.

But never a McCain supporter. May all be disabused of such a notion forthwith!

And thank you for all your work which we have enjoyed!

You are wonderful and I've loved your work since The Station Agent.

Everyone is talking about "The Station Agent." Hasn't anyone seen "The Dead Pool?" I'm a sucker for a Clint Eastwood flick and this a good one.

I love you!!!

wow...I never thought you were "Joan" either...but I, like most of your fans, I'm sure, am thrilled that you are celebrating the change that is Barack Obama. Thank you for all your work...My husband and I have always had you up there as our favorite actress....and "The Station Agent " as our favorite movie. What a remarkable talent you have been blessed with! And thanks again for sharing it.

Patricia Clarkson you are a brilliant actress and your support for Barack Obama makes me an even bigger fan. By the way, I absolutely loved your Blanche in the Streetcar at Kennedy Center in '04. For too many reasons to list here. One reason was the final scene - not only did you brilliantly convey Blanche's complete emotional break but you transformed physically so that we saw this completely broken woman. I am not sure I articulated what I thought well but suffice to say I was blown away!

Speaking of voices, has anyone ever watched the show Smallville? The actress who plays Lois Lane sounds a lot like Sarah Palin.

I would know your voice anywhere. You're a great actress too.
