The 24th Annual AAJA (Asian American Journalists Association) Convention and Career Fair will be held in Washington D.C. from Aug. 13-16.

Here are 10 Things you should know about it:

  1. Headlining our gala will be Pulitzer Prize-winning journalist Jose Antonio Vargas and actor Maulik Pancholy.
  2. Offering more than 50 workshops to help improve core skills and making sure journalists return to their newsrooms abreast of the latest tools and trends.
  3. Partnering with industry leaders to offer immersive full-day bootcamp from $5 to $50 on Wednesday, Aug. 13, to sharpen your investigative, data journalism, international reporting and more. You don't have to be an AAJA member to register for these bootcamps. Open to all to attend.
  4. Launching a Media Institute to train diverse experts and thought leaders to be better media sources in print, on air and online.
  5. Hosting a free Media Access workshop for non-profit leaders. The workshops aim to teach local community leaders, non-profits, and business owners how to "get their news in the news." You can still sign up
  6. Looking for a job? Media companies are recruiting from all market sizes and platforms.
  7. Looking to shop? Our Annual silent auction is available online this year. Big ticket items range from Hawaiian vacation packages to tech gadgets to a commemorative football signed by the Super Bowl-winning Seahawk coach and more.
