While Napa continues to pick itself up, people seem to be sizing up their homes as if they were the enemy.
As quake stories continue to circulate, here's one that's particularly scary.
When people went to check on a neighbor, she pointed to a fan above her bed, dangling from a wire.
The fan was on when she was asleep in bed, she explained. It was a close call for this woman in the recent 6.0 Napa earthquake. Now she's determined to get rid of it, insisting on a no fan zone over her bed.
Many have equally scary stories, and we all seem to be running for cover.
The only way we can shirk this fearful state of mind is to realize we can't micromanage the whims of Mother Nature. We can't control how we die. There is, in fact, only one thing we can control: How we live.
I found this encouraging quote that coaches us how to move forward with courage in the midst of these insidious aftershocks.
