Posted: 07/02/11 12:03 PM ET

I always tell people to make a list the night before of things they'd like to get done and to do the hardest thing first. This sounds awful but when you start your day with momentum, you capitalize on it. Everything else seems easy.

Instead of taking cold shower in the morning, I usually take hot shower to warm the head and brains, that makes me wake up. It goes also in the other way, before going to sleep, especially at summer it is better to take cold shower than warm bath, so cold and long I feel almost like freezing before crawling under the sheets.

I'm a morning person and have always been a morning person. You would be surprised how many friends and family members HATE that I am a morning person. It's not that I am up in the morning doing things that wake them (I don't...I'm very careful not to disrupt their sleep), it's that when they do get up, I'm happy, in a good mood and full of energy and they seem to resent that.

I just moved into a new apartment that has floor to ceiling windows that face south.

I leave the curtains open-and I find myself popping out of bed at 5:45 am-wide awake and ready to go.
I'm not kidding, what a difference!

Curious - a good many of these seem to be aimed at people who don't go out to work, or have other morning commitments anyway. Surely commuting, or having to get kids to school, for instance, take care of the matter of when you get up - and they are certainly appointments you have to keep. However they can also mean there is simply no time for other stuff in the mornings. I get up at 5.20 as it is, to be at work (train and tram) by 9.00.
