A luxury boutique hotel placed conveniently at 57th and 6th avenue in New York city, the Quin hotel is on my short list of favorite hotels in New York city. Just two blocks from central park and an avenue away from either Broadway or 5th, the Quin Hotel allows you to stay pampered while visiting one of the most exciting and demanding cities in the world.
A full service oasis, the Quin's modern and opulent interior greets you from the first steps inside with a calm and peaceful energy. The two story marble lobby creates an immediate bubble of privacy directly off one of NYC's busiest streets and continues as you head to your room through the refined walls of the foyer.
The architectural design is focused on height. The tall ceilings in the hallways and rooms create a European feel and even hints at post-war Manhattan when materials were cheap and architects were free to be expansive. This makes each room feel generous and unrestricted. The rooms are luxurious and well appointed with sophisticated modern interiors. One finds oneself taking an unconscious breath of relaxation viewing the clean modern lines on the elegant décor.

At 208 rooms the hotel remains small enough to feel intimate but also have excellent customer service. This is an obvious advantage of boutique hotels, a choice I always prefer to stay in if I can, and one which I came to appreciate first hand most notably when a bag of mine was momentarily misplaced. The hotel solved the problem within 15 minutes with two people working on it. The speed and efficiency of solving the problem was appreciated and impressive.

Standard rooms are queen and king, as well as two junior and three full size suites. I had the advantage of staying in the master penthouse balcony suite, one of only five rooms with a full balcony on the 17th floor that made my stay in New York City memorable. The balcony suite has a separate living room and a marble bathroom with a walk in shower with room to spare as well as an extraordinary shower system sporting three shower heads in two columns, including a massive overhead that turned the glass walled experience into a rain room.
I find the success of a luxury hotel evident when it's challenging to leave one's room. That is in full force at the Quin, nevertheless I rose to the challenge to explore the gym on the second floor. Modern and well designed for a smaller gym, it incorporated enough equipment, weights, treadmills, and a multipurpose nautilus machine that a gym enthusiast like me could easily do a full work out with no limitations. This dedication is a must I find while traveling and I was quite happy with the experience. A glass window looking out across the lobby below and to 57th street outside, reminded me of adventures to come I had planned by car, train and on foot, so was a welcome site. A refrigerator with complimentary waters and Gatorade is provided at the gym as well as a clean towel rack.
Living room Terrace Suite
The Hotel Quin Arts program honors the tradition of great artists who had been at this address long before me, including Georgia O'Keefe and Marc Chagall. The art on display during my visit was a Berlin-based artist named "Above", though the hotel's curator keeps collections ever changing, as well as sometimes projecting grand displays on the lobby's 15-foot abstract video art wall, which are specifically created for the hotel.
Balcony Terrace, corner suite
I'm a busy traveler and visited both Chinatown as well as Lincoln Center during my short stay, as well as seeing a dear friend in midtown on 5th avenue. But returning to the hotel became one of the high points of my stay, knowing the comfort that awaited me. My location couldn't have been more convenient, as the Quin is nestled inbetween mass transportation, taxi stops and of course most of midtown which is just a walk through one of my favorite cities in the world and which is always my preference.

The attached restaurant, The Wayfarer, is an American Grille with a classic American menu and gets an excellent rating, though I didn't have the opportunity to try it myself. Notably, the restaurant provides room service that is 24 hours, which is not always customary in the hotel world, even in NYC.
For a luxury stay at an elegant and upscale boutique hotel The Quin provided exemplary comfort and a refined luxurious modern atmosphere with every convenience.
