As someone who lives with learning disabilities, Obama's ability to transcend stigma and bridge gaps in our society has made me feel part of the world.

President Obama is the 44th president of the United States of America and our first African American president. As he was taking the oath I could feel not just America, but the world, changing into a better place. The minute he was done taking the oath, I felt that the world had been changed. Throughout his speech, the American flag on his shoulder was shining; it was as if the country had come out of the dark and into the light. The sun shining on his pin was a metaphor to me that the sun was shining on our country and that with a little work everything is going to be okay.

The next morning he went right to work and called world leaders and demonstrated that he is already trying to make the world come together. I remember Chris Matthews of MSNBC saying that Obama wants to forget the past and move forward. And instead of just fighting back at the terrorists not really knowing why they don't like us, he will pull back and try to figure out why it is that they don't like us. The new president is going to make this country better because he thinks and he really cares about the American people. He asks his country what he can do for them and not what his country can do for him.

As someone who lives with learning disabilities, Obama's ability to transcend stigma and bridge gaps in our society has made me feel the same as everybody else, he has made me feel that I am part of the elite; he has made me feel part of the world. Obama is going to make sure that every living person is going to get the same treatment, no matter who you are or what you do for a living.

People like him, because he sees the world through the eyes of an average American; he doesn't view anybody differently, he doesn't think of himself better than anybody. Already within just two days, he is bringing us all under one sky and showing us that we are all on the same boat, and that with help and a little work, we will make the world a better place for all living creatures.
