A: The Constitution gives the President the power to nominate a judge to the Supreme Court when there is a vacancy. The Constitution also gives the U.S. Senate the advice and consent power over that nominee. I agree with Senator McConnell's decision that, so close to a national election, this decision should be left to the people.

A: I'd say Steny Hoyer. While we don't often see eye-to-eye on the issues, at the end of each week you'll find us debating one-on-one on the House Floor over the issues to be considered by Congress. We've been doing this since I first became Majority Leader in 2014.
