Realizing

  • That being special does not entitle you to special treatment.
  • That "adult" doesn't exist and the age to really be one keeps moving out as you get older.
  • That it's possible to make all the right decisions and end up with an undesired outcome. Ergo, the outcome should not be the measure of if you made the right decisions.
  • That everyone's number one concern is themselves, not you.
  • That nothing is personal. It's not about you.
  • That there is no such thing as blame. It's all you.
  • That as you give to the world the world gives to you.
  • That the world owes you nothing.
  • That winning an argument with the people who are important to you is really shortsighted.
  • That being there for the people that you love is what it's about and it's mostly for you.
  • That life is more about creating things and less about finding things. Less about fairy tales and more about working at it. This applies to the prince and the knight and the horse and the sparkling ring and the princess dress and your soulmate and to happily ever after.
  • That there are no shortcuts.
  • That closing yourself off is the worst thing you can do because it will kill you before you die. Give. Give give give. If you are used, give. Love. Love love love. If you are hurt, love.
  • That you feeling that you are behind compared to others, that another person has more than you, is luckier than you, has a better life than you, is nothing but a story you tell yourself.
  • That you have less time than you think.
  • That you will not get away with anything: you will pay for every bit of harm you inflict on others and on yourself. Not in some afterlife. Right here. I don't mean cosmically. I don't mean karmically. What I mean is that you reap what you sow. Everything you do has consequences.
  • That silence is indispensable.
  • That it's a beautiful, beautiful world and it's up to you to see.
