I've decided to chime and give you a bit of background:

So, now that I have listed my pedigree, here are my thoughts:
Drive: It's a great handling car, my 997TT was stock 480hp and quite quick, though even with the VTG, there was still some noticeable lag. The AWD was great, and I did drive it more than a few times in the snow. The styling I think was great from the rear, but the front left a bit to be desired. Although I loved the car, some of Jeremy Clarkson's jokes about it being a VW with mustard up its bottom were true when looking at it dead on from the front.
You get some attention in it, but also not a huge amount as in many ways, people have to know the car a bit to understand how much power it packs and so forth, especially in America.
What can you say about the marquee? I mean, it's a Ferrari, so there's a bit of that OMG, I'm driving a Ferrari when you first get in. Since you wont find a Turbo Ferrari, at least in the modern era, the power delivery will be much more linear and smoother than a Porsche with equivalent power, and that definitely leaves a more refined feel. It was one of the main reasons that I love the Audi R8 V10 more than the 997TT.
It will get constant attention, and half of the people will think you are a d*uche, so be prepared for that. It's certainly not as livable everyday because of the maintenance involved though modern cars, 360, and beyond are much less strain on the wallet than prior generation cars.
It's a Ferrari, and at the end of the day, nothing will substitute for it, not because it's worth it, but because the image has been built so high that it's simply on a pedestal by itself.
Which is flashier? Ferrari
Which is easier to maintain and drive everyday? Porsche
Which is more fun? Ferrari - simply because it's NA, not turbo'd
But, if you really want to know what is leaps and bounds above both of them in terms of feel and the pure joy of driving, then it's the Lotus Exige/Elise.
The Lotus Exige is only 2050lbs, which is 1000 lbs lighter than a Ferrari and 1500 lbs lighter than a Porsche. It has no electronic aids, it has no power steering, and because it weighs so little, even with the stock 220hp supercharged 1.8L you will get 0-60MPH in 4 seconds and it will really only bog down at 90-100+mph when air resistance plays the biggest factor.
You will feel every corner and imperfection in the road. If you don't believe me, just test drive one and you will be forever changed. That's why after all of the cars that I owned, I've gotten rid of them and now just have my Lotus Exige as a daily driver and track toy.
